I unashamedly admit that at 30-something years old I have grown my beard out for the first time in my life and it’s freakin’ awesome. But what you might not think about when growing a sweet beard is how dry and itchy this rascal gets. Thankfully I found out about beard oil and my life is universally better for the knowledge. Beard oil, for the uninformed, is exactly what it sounds like, oil you rub into your luscious beard to keep the hair and your skin moisturized. Without the oil, your beard can look all mangey and crusty because of dandruff from your chin. If you don’t want to look like a back alley hobo take care of your stupid face.
Like any grooming product there are dozens of brands and scents to choose from, so this will be a trial and error process to find something that you like. I started with some off-brand beard oil from the grocery store and it was okay, but it smelled too feminine for my tastes. There’s only one way to have your beard smell like a woman and it ain’t from using girly scented beard oil.
I was fortunate to find a fantastic beard oil my very first time ordering one, Detroit Grooming’s The Corktown Beard Oil keeps my beard soft and has a great manly scent of warm vanilla and tobacco. The only bad part about this particular product is that it only comes in a 1 fl. oz. bottle, running about $20 per bottle, and that won’t last long if your beard is long or thick.
Applying beard oil is addictive, and this shit ain’t cheap, but it is worth it. Your whiskers shouldn’t scratch up your woman’s sensitive skin, ya know what I mean?
